This is from Jessica's husband, Matt Prebeg:  Life is fragile.  It is easy to forget that sometimes.  In an instant, it can change.  For Jessica Prebeg, 39, it became a reality in early November.  On a Thursday night she developed symptoms of a stroke and was quickly diagnosed with not only a stroke but a collapsed lung.  Without the knowledgeable effort provided by the community’s medical personnel and then the advanced care at the UW Health University Hospital, she likely would not have survived.  Five days later she is relatively stable but still in UW’s ICU with much yet unknown.  Jes is one of the most caring people, yet very reluctant to ask for help herself – her husband and two children can attest to it.  With an unforeseen amount of time yet expected at the UW hospital and then a long road of recovery, medical expenses will be substantial.  If you are wishing to express your support for Jes and her family, this Gofundme is just one method to do so.  Your thoughts and prayers are continually needed and so appreciated!  God Bless you!

Life can be a rollercoaster. Jes is now facing additional surgery as the bone piece removed from her skull after the stroke to release pressure has now become infected. Doctors will be removing the infected bone and replacing it with a customized prosthetic shield. With the additional expense they will incur traveling to Madison, and the expense of the insurance deductible, we are humbly reaching out again to ask your support. Prayers are deeply desired for her healing, and if you can help at all with the monetary impact of this for them, that is also appreciated. Thank you and God bless.

I wanted to share that I met with Jes and Matt to see how they are doing, and of course to have ice cream! Jes is still struggling with fine motor skills (being able to type or text), however her hugs are as strong as ever! She's continuing in therapy which is helping her ability to verbally communicate, but as you all know, Jes can say a thousand words with one expression so our conversation never stalled. They wanted to express appreciation for all of your support, it has meant the world to them. Thank you!

Here is the latest update from Matt:

Jessica and I would like to continually thank everyone for there continued thoughts and prayers. We are still not out of the woods. Jessica has to be in Madison February 13th to meet with the thoracic doctors. We are hopeful they will schedule her lung surgery at that time. She will be having a lobectomy. Meanwhile she still has speech, occupational, and physical therapy 3 times a week at Aspirus in Wausau, which is going very well. Jessica is working hard and staying determined, so she is doing therapy at home too, and is continuing to make improvements, sometimes daily.

AMAZING NEWS! Jessica was released from the hospital today! Because she has been improving so much, the doctors released her to go home, and she will do the rest of her rehab on an outpatient basis for now. She will need lung surgery in a couple of months, but for now she can focus on her rehab, and enjoy being in her own home. Please keep prayers coming her way.
