Final Expenses

Fredrick Logan Sr.  Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.  He passed away January 26, 2018 at 2:30 AM after a lengthy fight with squamous cell skin cancer, renal failure, severe afib, and interstitial lung disease.  He passed quietly in his sleep, with his wife and two eldest sons attendant.  He had pneumonia and a pin hole in his left lung; we have been told he felt no pain in passing.

The pain of loss is indescribable.  He was dearly loved by all of us, and we will never forget him.  He is survived by his wife, four sons, one daughter, three sisters, two brothers, and an ever increasing number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Although he had a burial policy, it wouldn't have been considered active until June of this year.  He had an accidental death policy as well, but the way we lost him, that won't activate either - meaning we have no way to pay for his funeral and final expenses, which may be considerable.  We don't know yet exactly how much it will be after insurance, but we've already received a bill from the hospital for around $120,000 for the first time he went down.

All we're looking at right now is the cost of the funeral, which will be around $9,000 after all is said and done.  With no insurance policy to help, we have no hope whatsoever of acquiring that amount in anything like a reasonable timeframe.  The funeral is set for Monday, January 29, starting with the private viewing at noon, and the funeral home wants payment upfront.  We may be able to work out a payment plan with them, or even a short deferment, but the fact of the matter is that we just don't have the income or available assets to build up that amount of ready cash.

None of us are happy with having to ask others for help in this time of need, but pride takes second place to necessity.  We have no hope whatsoever of paying back anything that is donated.  Any amount will help.  If you feel like passing along the link to someone who might be able to help, please do so.
