Eagle River Park Campaign

Donation protected

Friends, we need your help to support the Eagle Community River Campaign to convert a sketchy trash-ridden truck lot at Eagle's front door into a family-friendly amazing river park complete with kids activities and river surf wave features!  In order to move this project forward and leverage other funding, we need to get a grassroots campaign rolling to pass Ballot Issue 1 this April in the Town of Eagle.

Since this is a ballot issue campaign, please provide your name and address for any donation over $20, and include your profession as well for any donation over $100.

Ballot Issue 1 asks voters to increase sales tax by up to 0.5% (5 cents on a $10 purchase) to generate revenue for the design, construction and maintenance of a new Eagle River Park. In addition, revenue from the tax can be used to improve and maintain the Town’s existing parks, recreational facilities and paved paths.

+The Eagle River Park will convert an existing tractor trailer truck parking lot into a sustainable, environmentally responsible public park for use by residents and visitors.

+Improvement and better maintenance of existing Town parks will increase the quality of life for Town residents and will increase property values.

+The Eagle River Park will include world-class white water features and a beach area in what is currently a degraded, unnatural river channel created by the construction of I-70. The improvements will also improve water quality and river access, remove safety hazards, benefit fish habitat and stabilize the river bank.

+The River Park will be an exceptional and unique amenity that will distinguish Eagle from other communities. The Town’s economy will benefit from increased visitor spending and opportunities for new and existing businesses. The Park’s visibility from I-70 will encourage travelers to stop and spend time in Eagle.

+It is estimated that approximately 60% of the sales tax will be paid by non-Town of Eagle residents. The anticipated cost of the tax per year for the median income household is estimated to be approximately $55.

+Other communities, including Salida, Buena Vista, and Golden have proven that dynamic, vibrant communities flourish near rivers when the right conditions exist. Those conditions include opening the river to the public and providing amenities such parks, trails, beaches, and white water features. Passage of Ballot Issue 1 will allow the Town to do just that.

Please join us in supporting this meaningful cause to get this park built as a massive front foor quality of life and economic development improvement, creating an amazing legacy to pass on to future generations.

Thank you!
