Good morning everybody,
this is not very easy to explain so please bear with me. As some of you might have noticed our friend Jody Darlington has not been on FB for a while. What some might know Jody has been bedridden since quite a while and the last few months her immune system shut down and she contracted an illness she almost passed away twice. Her beloved Husband Bruce was her caregiver 24/7.
Yesterday Nanette Zundel Baker got in touch with me stating that Bruce caught a heart attack and passed away and that Jody was brought in the hospital and that foster is needed for the 9 yorkies.
Tootchie and I jumped in the car and went straight to the hospital. Jody is not doing good, not good at all. The love of her life passed away and there is nobody else that can take care of her. She truly needs care 24/7. She is pretty lost of how to proceed and so am I.
The pups are at a vet clinic in Metairie. I just got our house ready for a few furry guests and will pick them up at 8.00AM. You all know my supergroomer Kristin Falterman. Kristin will give all the babies a good grooming. Bruce did the best he could with the 9 babies, but with Jody in and out the hospital he apparently cut some of the hair and apparently they look a little funny. Kristin will work her magic and take 4 of the babies to her house and foster them there. So at the moment the dogs which are Jody's babies will be fine and are taken care off at this moment.
Now everything else has to fall in place somehow and I dont know where to start. I dont know where Bruce is. Jody said he is with the coroner, but Roy said the coroner is not taking body's, that he must be in a morgue. So I will have to call the coroner later this morning and try to locate him. There is a family thomb somewhere and I have to find out about that as well. Bruce didnt wanted a funeral. There is no family or anything, he also didnt wanted to be embalmed so this is urgent right now, because if Im not mistaken in the USA is the same law like in Switzerland and there are only a few days that you have time. Thats why my Daddy had to be cremated yesterday and couldnt wait.
Bruce only had a very small life insurance, the big one they had elapsed when he couldnt work anymore to take care of Jody. So at the moment there is zero money and I mean zero!!!! We are a little screwed here. Jody will always need 24/7 care and of course she is scared. She cant afford to hire anybody and the only solution that comes into my mind right now is a home, but of course thats not what she wants. I will call her parish government today and ask for a social worker to speak to me. I truly have no clue how what when. I'm aware that the hospital will kick her out sooner or later so I wonder if there is some kind of rehab I can get her in, to have a little time to find solutions.
Her house apparently is also in dispair condition and on the verge to be lost. Now please peeps, I dont want anyone make any judgements, I swear one stupid comment and I will unleash the wild monkeys. If you can help with something, say money or research calling around anything, I truly appreciate it. If you just want to run your mouth, stay away from me!! I also dont want any inquiries about getting a yorkie! Those babies are safe at the moment and are not going nowhere until we figured out something. I also would like to thank my husband Roy Vicknair whom didnt hesitate a second or freak out when I called him up and told him that we are on our way to pick up 9 additional dogs!! Takes a good man to react this way! Thank you so much Sunshine!!! To Kristin: Thank you so much for jumping in right away and offer to take half of the pack under your care and groom them all for free! You rock!
