Joyce & Jim's House Fundraiser

Donation protected

Hello Friends,

Our house is being sold, and we’ve been given a chance to buy it in what is unarguably the ultimate Bay Area version of an “amazing deal” —which means it’s astronomical... but it’s also literally a once in a lifetime chance.

This house is perfect for all of our needs, and for Hubba Hubba Revue's needs, too (15 years of props and costumes, that you need at hand all the time, require a heck of a lot of room --and we're surprisingly close to our main venues.)

The property will go up in value over time, it has existing renters, and being able to stay here is almost certainly the deciding factor for being able to stay in the Bay Area, and able to keep Hubba Hubba Revue going.

If we can raise the money for what are going to be a tremendous number of expenses, then afterwards, we can afford the monthly costs.

Is $50,000 the goal? Maybe! We don't really know, but we've already heard that Day One, there's a sewer line situation that's gonna set us back as much as 10 grand --and that ain't by no means the only thing that we're going to have to cover.

Hoo boy.

Multiple family members are involved. A great, longtime, real estate agent friend is representing us. Joyce is talking to an awesome loan agent, and the current owners, our landlords,  are sweet, wonderful people who like us, and are doing everything they can to make this work.

We’re cutting back on everything to do with the wedding, and canceling the honeymoon, to try to make this happen.

So, here's the “Big Ask.”

With multiple local shows and producers also (very) recently being exiled from their venues, homes and work spaces, We're hoping there’s a perception that our asking for money will be perceived as more valid than just a “fund our lifestyle” request.

We want to stay in Oakland, we want to stay in our house, but we also want to be able to keep doing Hubba Hubba Revue shows in the Bay Area, and continue to support our venues, and showcase our local, live performance community.

Our wedding is coming up soon, but we won’t be registering at Pottery Barn. If you were considering getting us a toaster or some corn-holders, we would love it if instead you donated to this fund, and helped us achieve our goal of taking advantage of this rare opportunity, and remaining in our home, here in beautiful, sunny Oakland.

Time is short. The current owners can't wait long for us to take this sweetheart deal before they have to put the property up on the open market, and, if we manage to pull this off, the second the papers are signed, we'll be facing enormous expenses. We anticipate the first round of those could be as early as 2 weeks from now.

Thank you in advance, you wonderful people. We will always strive to be worth your time, and your friendship.

Love,

--Jim and Joyce
