Help Josh Beat Leukaemia

Donation protected
In August 2014 Joshua was diagnosed with ALL Leukaemia. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia is a cancer of the blood cells. After 4 long weeks of going back and forth to doctors and hospitals, not know what was wrong, he finally got a diagnosis that no one could ever have imagined. All of his life, Joshua had been one of the most vibrant, lively and healthy child you would have ever met. To see him so vulnerable and poorly was heartbreaking.

Treatment for Josh began straight away. This consisted of a variety of chemotherapies and many other medications. He stayed in hospital for weeks while his treatment began. It was only then that Josh was told that his treatment would take around 3 and 1/2 years. The first 9/10 months would be the most intense stage meaning many hospital stays and visits. The medication would also mean the Josh would be extremely vulnerable to infection. If Josh got a temperature he is rushed back to hospital as an impatient.

Since diagnosis Josh has not only had medication but has been in theatre many times for bone marrow biopsies, lumbar puncture and Hickman line placement and replacements. He has stayed strong and happy throughout. In October 2014 Josh became severely unwell again. The hospital and doctors did not know what was wrong. After testing it was confirmed that a Josh had developed Acute Pancreatitis. This had developed due to one of the drugs used in treating leukaemia. This was the most excruciating pain ever imaginable and he remained in hospital for threue weeks and was nil by mouth for a majority of this.

Josh dealt so well with the following variety of chemotherapies with some of them lasting 24 hours IV. He got through to maintenance and was happy and doing do well with his treatment and medications.

In June 2015 his pancreatitis returned and still many teams have not found out the cause and hope that the vital drugs they are using are not playing a part in this awful illness.

In spite of everything life has thrown at him, Josh has never, ever complained. He is still the happiest, most positive person you would ever have the pleasure to meet.

We look to raise funds to help care for Josh in the best way possible and for him have happy times in his life with lots of things to look forward to.
