Bring Jose Home

Hello friends and family, my name is Elmer Gomez and I am one of Jose's older brothers. I am currently in Oregon while Jose and my parents are in Guatemala by his bed side and the rest of my family are in Los Angeles. I started this GoFund me to help out my family financially with Jose's medical expenses. 

As some of you may know my younger brother Jose was shot in Guatemala while my family was on vacation celebrating my mother’s birthday. They were ending their night and were headed home when a truck with 6 armed men stopped them on a dark road, they proceeded to open fire into the vehicle my family was travelling in. A bullet hit my brother in the arm and also his lung. They took my family into the woods where they took all of their belongings. My brother spent 4 hours loosing blood in the middle of the dark woods, my family waived for help until finally a car stopped and took my family to the nearest hospital. Unfortunately the hospital that they took him to did not have the resources to help my brother, they had to take him to another hospital that was 40 minutes away. There, they operated on him, they had to do a skin graft where the bullet hit his arm and also operate on his lung that was damaged by the bullet. He was put in an induced coma for a week while his body recovered.

All this occurred in the end of June, it is now mid July and Jose is still very weak and very fragile. We are trying to bring him back to the states to get him the medical help he truly needs, the hospital that he is currently in is very poor and doesn’t have the resources to fully help Jose.

As you guys can imagine it wont be cheap to bring Jose home. In order for us to bring him back he will need to be medically transfered from Guatemala. The funds that my family are asking for will go towards bringing Jose home and pay for his medical bills.
