Jose Borges' tooth fairy fund

We are sad and disspointed to inform that Jose was a victim of a brutal assault early on Tuesday, July 11th, while on his way to a friend's house in Vancouver's Gastown neighbourhood.

The details surrounding the incident are still undetermined as there were no witnesses and Jose has little to no memory of the events that took place. He fully came to consciousness on Wednesday, July 12th, following reconstructive surgery to his maxilla. 


Anyone that know's Jose knows that he's a sweet, bright, and enthusiastic young man. He's an outstanding member of our community. Jose has been involved in volunteering from a very young age with inner-city programs HEROS Hockey, Backpack Buddies, and the Hastings North Community Partners Group.

Due to the fact that José has been working as an entrepreneur and bartender, he unfortunately does not have extended health care.
We're thankful he was able to get the immediate attention , however he has a long road of surgeries, and recovery time, and a majority of the journey ahead is not covered by MSP. 


Update: Jose has been discharged from the hospital to recover in the comfort of his family.  

The major injuries sustained are as follow:

- Broken Maxilla bone
- Four missing teeth (mouth wired shut for the next month)
- Broken nose (Jose say's if he looks like Javier Bardem then all's well)
- Severe concussion
- Neck injuries (must yet consult with physiotherapist)
