Jordon - a hit and run driver!!

Tax deductible
UPDATE!   We have GOOD and BAD news.  Jordon's xrays have been examined now by two separate vets, and they may be able to save his leg!!!  The head of his femur bone is broken off, but an FHO (femoral head osteotomy) surgery is a viable option for him.  In an FHO, they remove the broken femur head, smooth the end of the remaining femur bone, and it forms a new joint.  Animals recover and do great in the long term with this common procedure.  We are scheduling him ASAP with an EXTREMELY skilled orthopedic surgeon who also offers VERY good prices.  He will evaluate Jordon, and  assuming there is no other physical or nerve damage, he will do what he can to save the leg. The bad news is that this option is a bit more costly than an amputation, so we are increasing our fundraising goal.  Dogs can do well with three legs, but if we can save his leg, we feel we owe it to Jordon to try our best. Thank you SO much to EVERYONE who has supported Jordon so far!  Had we not met our first goal, we would not even be able to consider this option!  But now we need your help to dig in, step up to the challenge, and once again share his story far and wide so we can give him every chance to keep his leg!  Thank you as always for loving these animals and for being there when they have no one else!

Jordon is a sweet, but terrified puppy, less than a year old.  Late yesterday he was running loose along a busy road in Waukegan, and in a panic, ran into the road.  He was hit by a speeding car who never even slowed down, much less stopped, and he was thrown to the side of the road where he laid terrified and unable to move.  Thankfully someone saw the whole thing, stayed with him, and called the police.  Waukegan Police Animal Control immediately took him to the ER. Thankfully he didn't appear to have any internal damage or bleeding, and he is stable.  But one of his back legs is shattered and needs to be amputated as soon as possible.  Our vet is managing his pain and continuing to monitor him to ensure there were no other injuries.   As always, we cannot do right by these stray and homeless Waukegan animals without YOUR help.  PLEASE share his sad story, keep him in your thoughts as he awaits his surgery, and PLEASE help if you can.
THANK YOU!!!!
