Never in a million years would I have thought that my 16 year old daughter would have experienced being shot in the lower neck by a stray bullet from almost 1300 feet away. This traumatic, unforeseen event happened on September 16th, 2017, while just simply standing outside talking with friends. The bullet, which remains in her body, traveled from the right side of her lower neck to the left side of her body causing her to have had a shattered artery, collapsed lung, and fracture to her spine. The fracture to her spine is a T1 injury that has also  caused nerve damage prohibiting her to use her left arm and legs. She is currently considered to be an incomplete paralyzed patient. My innocent, energetic, respectful, 4.0 student and entrepreneur’s life literally has changed in a blink of an eye. Not just her life, but our family’s life as a whole. What once was a very independent young lady is now an individual requiring 24 hour medical care. Although some progress has been made, and we remain faithful, the reality is there’s still a very long road to recovery.
