Jordan's Communication Aid.

Hi everyone and thank you for clicking on this campaign. We are delighted that Jordan reached his target for this fund on Christmas Eve. This target was only set at the minimum needed to purchase his device. With the fund reaching beyond the target we plan to use any extra money raised to purchase the stands needed to support the communication aid and hopefully purchase a device with a bigger screen .Hopefully also some extra training so Jordan can reach his full potential.
I'd like you to meet my son Jordan who lives in Ireland and is 15 years old. Jordan has a complex range of medical conditions from birth that have left him confined to a wheelchair and requiring round the clock care and medical attention. Jordan is also non-verbal and as he is getting older this makes it increasingly difficult and frustrating for him because he can't communicate. Previously Jordan's parents enquired about eye gaze technology were told that it would be unlikely that Jordan would be a candidate for this and this was a crushing blow. However last month after 15 years of non verbal communication a miracle happened . A new communication aid was trialled with Jordan and for the first time in his life he was able to communicate through this device with his family. Can you imagine how that must have felt? For the first time in his life he could "speak" to his mum and dad. With this device he would be able to communicate with his teachers and classmates, have an opportunity to join in with those around him, he needs this device.
The crushing part of this is that the device itself costs over €5,000 (device, software, installation)! This campaign is to raise funds to buy not only the device for Jordan but to hopefully keep it updated and get training to get the best possible use out of the device.
