On February 22, my sister Megan was diagnosed with Mediastinal Large B-Cell Lymphoma (MLBC). MLBC is a rare type of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma that develops when your body makes abnormal B-lymphocytes, which are white blood cells that fight infection.
Our entire family is completely stunned by the news as Megan is young and very healthy. The last few months have been such an emotional whirlwind. We unexpectedly lost our mother December 3rd, and as many of you know, Megan and David welcomed their 3rd son, Harrison, on January 31st. Between going through the grieving process, having a newborn and two active boys at home, and fighting cancer, Megan has her heart and hands full.
Megan's treatment has already begun and consists of 6 rounds of chemo over the course of 4 months, followed by radiation daily for 4-6 weeks. She is amazingly strong and resilient and has been so brave throughout this process. If anyone can pull through this she can, but she’ll be going through a very taxing treatment and will need all the support she can get.
She’s strong but highly sensitive and has been through so much already in just the past few weeks. Between countless rounds of blood work, biopsys, PET scans, port surgery and injections, Megan is exhausted.
The couple obviously faces enormous financial challenges due to the medical expenses that have already started. Our family is doing whatever we can to help, but there is a huge financial burden associated with cancer.
We have already received an amazing outpouring of emotional support from family and friends and we couldn’t be more thankful! Your continued love, PRAYERS, encouragment and ANY financial support that you may be able to contribute are greatly appreciated to help Megan KICK THIS CANCER!
