My name is Gail and I am here to talk about my dear friend Jo (Joanne) Walroth.
Jo is a Canmore girl who moved to Cochrane over 20 years ago. She spent many years in Cochrane serving the town. She became a leader in the community, sharing her passion for protecting the environment and teaching residents the importance of waste reduction and recycling. Her enthusiasm for this work was contagious and soon it was necessary to build a new facility to handle the vast quantity of recycling brought to the depot every week.
Now she needs her friends and community to come together and support her. Last week, after struggling and being sick for months, Jo was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She starts chemotherapy on March 7th, 2017 and will need to return for treatment every week. There still much information that we don't know at this time, but we will post updates as she progresses through her treatments.
Jo has not been able to work in the past year and no longer has extended medical coverage. This means she has no drug coverage, no means to pay for transportation to the hospital or parking or any other living expenses while she undergoes treatment. On top of all those costs, she is in dire need of a CPAP (sleep apnea) machine. She needs our help now!
Please donate to help Jo fight this battle. She needs all her energy to be focused on fighting the cancer and healing her body. Every donation will help - no matter how big or small.
On behalf of Jo, her family and all the people who love her so dearly, I thank everybody who donates to make her journey a little bit easier. It means everything.
Thank you for your generosity,
Gail Blackwood
