He made the band; get him to NYC

Dear Family, friends, and supporters,

I did it! I made the band!

 I auditioned for and won a spot in this year’s Macy’s Great American High School Marching Band. In case you don’t know about the Band, let me tell you a little about it. It is the lead marching band in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The band is made up of high school musicians from all 50 states. Musicians have to submit an audition video to be selected for the band and only about 4 musicians are selected from each state. I was excited and surprised to make it the very first time I auditioned. I am the first musician to be selected from the Monroe County area for this honor and the first Allendale Columbia student to make it. 

I'm psyched to represent my hometown and Allendale Columbia at the parade. There is a cost for this honor though, and I want to be the one that pays for it; not my Mom (Colleen Phillips). I have to raise about $1,950 to cover travel, event, and spending money for the parade.  I need to raise this money by November 15, 2016.

I have started raising money by working over the summer washing dogs. This fall we are planning a another fundraiser at my school (tentative). I plan to also solicit funds from local civic groups.

While all of these are great ways to raise the money I need to go; I really need your help in closing the gap and making my goal.  I really don't want my mom (Colleen Phillips) to have to pitch-in; especially with all that she is going through this fall. I have started this GoFundMe page to “Get me to the Parade”.
