Hello everyone! My name is Johnathan Hill and I currently serve as the youth/children's pastor of Casa Shalom,an orphanage located in San Lucas, Sacatepequez, Guatemala. I wear many hats here at Casa Shalom, I serve as the youth/children’s pastor, a translator for our Child Sponsorship Program, as well as team lead for short-term missions teams. Although it is a demanding position, I enjoy every moment of it!.
I have now been serving at Casa Shalom since July of 2014 for more than 6 months and have been blessed with the relationships I have built not only with the children, but even with the workers. I have had numerous opportunities to speak not only into the lives of the children as their pastor, but have even had opportunities to minister to the workers here at Casa Shalom. And likewise, they have ministered to me in my times of need!
God has opened my eyes and heart to not only these people, but to this culture, and revealed that this is where I am to be doing His work. I have known since I was 15 that I would be a missionary overseas. But, as most of us try to do, I was determined to not do His will and try to “weave” His will into what I wanted. I had the plans of becoming a doctor and weaving His will in by participating in a program called doctors without borders. As I humbled myself before the Lord, and sought after His will, the mission field continued to interest and allures me. After a period of time, 4 years to be exact, of serving the Lord in a program known as LEAD INstitute helping train and develop young leaders within the church, God opened a door for me to be a part of the ministry of Casa Shalom! In being here, God has allowed my passions to be fueled, I have never felt so full in my life, and have never felt happier than what I do now. There is a peace and a fulfillment that comes with doing what the Lord has called you to do, and I know that God has called me to serve the broken and hopeless Hispanics in order to bring them hope that in Christ we can find everything we need/lack.
My dream is to one day have an orphanage of my own, but there is much I lack in order to be ready for that. I feel that I am in the best place in order to prepare for the dream, and as always, God’s plan is always perfect! My ultimate prayer is to bring hope and restoration to the lives of many orphans and children who have been used, abused, and trashed-tossed in the dump and left to fend for themselves. I would like for you to be a part of this journey with me. One way you can do so is by financially supporting whether it be monthly or a one-time donation. Through your support, not only will you be helping me bring hope to the hopeless, but you will also be helping me be able to fulfill the daily activities I must in order to be in the lives of these children!
