We are raising money on Gofundme to help John's children with expenses that arose upon his death. Here is his obituary along with a message from his children:
John Patrick O’Donovan Born March 7, 1935 passed away November 23rd. John was a native of Pensacola and part of a large family deeply rooted in Pensacola history. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and elected as a City Councilman of Pensacola at age 25 and eventually retired from Escambia County.
John is survived by his three children Patrick (Beverly), Timothy (Sara), and Katie, his treasured grandchildren Aidan and Audrey and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
At John’s request there will be no formal funeral arrangements, but his desire is for his three children to hold a “Celebration of Life” at a later date to be determined.

We find great comfort through this difficult time knowing that our father‘s legacy of quiet strength, dedication to family, conviction of faith, unyielding courage, thankless generosity, his kind soul and most of all his capacity for love, remains alive in the hearts of everyone who’s path he was ever so grateful to have crossed. In our sorrow we are buoyed by the certainty that his memory and the legacy of his time here among us will never be forgotten.
