My Dear Friends,

With very heavy hearts and struggling to put this letter together and while many of you know our younger brother John is fighting for his life in the ICU unit at UCSD Medical Center. This is not a plea any of us ever could have imagined we would be making with this letter today. Our sweet young brother John was the picture of health enjoying his life with his wonderful wife and two young boys. These past few months he began to feel some of the symptoms that led him to where he is today in the fight of his life. Thankfully he has health insurance through his employer, but as you all know insurance will not cover everything and the loss of income is creating an insurmountable financial burden on his family. We are all helping in any way we can, but unfortunately it is nowhere near enough. Many of you have already offered help and support. The love you all show us is so important and special in helping us fight the fight along with our brother and his family. Any help you can give would be an incredible support to help John win this battle and allow him to be reunited with his family. It is so easy to take our health for granted, but when you are blindsided the way John was it is devastatingly heartbreaking. He wants to see his boys grow into men, be there for their special moments, and support them with the challenges and obstacles life presents all of us. Please help if you can. Below is a note John shared with his friends and coworkers.

“It is literally with a heavy heart that I’m very sorry to inform you that I have been suddenly and very recently diagnosed with heart failure resulting from Myeloma Cancer in my bone marrow. I’m currently at UCSD Medical Hospital undergoing chemotherapy treatment in hopes of reducing the Myeloma enough for me to qualify for a heart and bone marrow transplant. As you can imagine, this has been a very stressful and difficult time and hardship for our family just trying to wrap our heads around this sudden diagnosis.

Fortunately, we are blessed to have tremendous love and support from our friends and family including my work family. We have been remaining as positive as possible and as you all know, I will fight this with everything I’ve got!!!

Thank you all for your love and support. John is the most loving, caring, and special person to so many and is surrounded by an outpour of love. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love, prayers, good energy, a hopes that he makes a good recovery. The world is a better place with him here with us.
