John Allaire's Excess Skin Surgery

After losing over 300 pounds through diet and exercise, I need your help!

To "cut" to the chase, Initial surgical consults have indicated a cost to me of over 40k to remove the 16-20 pounds of extra skin I am carrying on my upperbody/abdomen alone.

(My two most recent consults.)

As a dependent military spouse, who has about 6 months until our family is stationed in Japan for a 3 year tour, my wife and I simply do not have the funds to accomplish this alone. The timeline to acheive this is fairly urgent, as it will take multiple surgeries and if we can not do this before being stationed overseas, I am likely looking at having to wait a minimum of another 4 years before being able to address this problem.

My name is John Allaire, and if I haven't had the pleasure to meet you in person, let me start by saying thank you for taking the time to even read about my journey and my struggle!

Here is my story:
A little over two years ago, I had a moment which represented both a high and low point in my life. The good: I had just gotten engaged to my high school sweetheart, a beautiful woman named Caila! The not-so-good: After commiting my life to another person,  I was faced with the reality that I was not only morbidly obese, but overweight to an extreme that guarunteed a shortened, difficult life together for me and my future family. I weighed 540 pounds.... For reference, I was rocking a BMI of just about 70!

I started my journey by juicing, trying to eat better and walking at least 3-4 days a week. I was able to lose about 20 pounds, getting down to a weight of 520, before marrying the love of my life... As you can see I clearly got the better end of this deal!

After we were married in early 2016, I relocated to San Diego, where Caila is currently stationed. (She serves our country as a fine member of the United States Navy, and I couldn't be more proud!)

The company I had worked for on the east coast didn't have any locations within a commutable distance, and instead of starting all over at new company, only to leave again within a couple of years, We decided I needed to focus on radically changing my health.

This is when I found The Camp Tranforsmation Center!

I walked into The Camp scared to death and weighing the same 520 pounds as the day we got married. The Camp is a boot camp program focusing on losing weight, 20 pounds in a 6 week timeframe. I knew that I had much more to lose than that, and it would take many consecutive 6 week challenges to lose the nearly 300 extra pounds I was still carrying. But after losing 12.6 in just one week- I had hope!

I was inspired to throw away anything remotely unhealthy in my house and committ to the diet plan and exercise program.

For the first time in a long time, I thought that maybe I wasn't doomed genetically, sentenced to a life of extreme obesity and an inevitably early grave.

I could spend easily another 5000+ words on my experiences at The Camp, on how simple and straight forward the process is (it boiled down to eating ultra clean and working ultra hard), on the countless relationships I made with my trainers and the AFF (that's my Awesome Fit Family), or even on how the owner of the entire company was invested enough to agree to meet and work out with me midway through the process. I could literally go on and on, so instead I'll restrict myself to sharing just a few of the photos I'll carry with me for life:

It has been a long and grinding process. For the last year and a half, I have put in work every single day towards losing the weight. Even when I chose to take rest days, nothing was done without clear intention to succeed. The results of this laser focus? Losing 297.4 pounds since August 2016. Overall, 317 pounds since my heaviest.

At the last surgical consult, the surgeon told me I have done all I can do naturally, and the next 16-20 pounds can only be removed, not lost. He told me it is time to let the doctors and medical professionals help me across the finish line.

I am so ready to reach for that finish, but the *bottom* line is I can't do it without your help.

The cost of a single surgery of this nature is ranging from 18-23K, and I am looking at a minimum of two surgeries. It's an overwheming financial burden that I am faced with. But I am hopeful that despite our lack of means I can find a way to acheive this.

I am beyond blessed no matter how this process ends. But should you be interested in doing more beyond or instead of donating directly here are some other options:

- If you are in the San Diego area, a cash donation can be made at any Location of The Camp Transformation Center. Any donation of $5 or more even gets a LIMM Yoga Strap! I personally have one and its really well made.

- If you are unable to help financially, please share this campaign.

- Also, if you are so inclined, all prayer is appreciated!

Finally, on behalf of my wife and I, A HUGE THANK YOU to The Camp Transformation Center, LIMM and all of you for the support I have already received on my Journey!
