Jogging 4 Journals

Jogging 4 Journals' goal is to provide free journals to patients with mental illness so they can start their healing process through writing and drawing.

I started this project in 2016, with me running a race every month and asking people to donate money to me, through this page.  With that money, I buy journals (and labels, which I write an encouraging message on and put on the first page of every journal).  I give the journals out to inpatients at Franklin Square and Harbor Hospitals, to patients on the Mental Health Units.  I have given out over 1,000 journals in the past couple of years, and the patients LOVE the journals!  They use them to write down or draw out their feelings, they take them to groups to write down what is being said (coping skills, etc), and they often write down their treatment plan.

I have started J4J because I have Bipolar and Anxiety, and running and journaling have helped me immensely!  I am using my coping skill of running to bring the coping skill of journaling to inpatients with mental illness.

Cost of a journal: 50 cents
Cost of a label: $13 for 150
Helping someone with a mental illness feel better about being hospitalized: PRICELESS.

Thank you so much for your help and donation. It means so much!!
