Campaign for Methow Valley Interpretive Center/MFI
Tax deductible
This year the Methow Valley Interpretive Center/Methow Field Institute celebrates eight years of existence as an educational institution. It was founded after many years of relationship building with the original Native Methow People who once were able to freely move throughout the area and considered it their home. Their understanding of the land, developed over thousands of years, is recognized as valuable to us today. Honoring those who came before and celebrating their history as well as the natural history of that land is the core purpose of the MVIC.
The MVIC invites guests to enjoy the surrounding native botanical garden and pit house. Inside the building they take part in the sweep of geological, natural and native history displays that travel through time as well as allow visitors to appreciate present day discoveries. We host a summer day camp that is donation only, hold ancestral skills classes, field trips, and provide eight “Last Sunday” programs beginning in the spring of each year. The MVIC continues to have a strong tribal connection with a tribal representative on our board.
There is a deeply felt sense of gratitude to all of you who have volunteered time, expertise, finances and donated items over the years. The MVIC has been a “grass roots” endeavor and the support we have received from everyone in the past has meant that we can continue to give back to both people and place for years to come.
