First comes love.
Then comes marriage.
Then they're pushing a baby carriage.
This was mine and Jenni's plan. If only things were as easy as a silly childhood taunt we all learned on the playground. One thing we all know is that real life can be much more complicated.
We never counted on struggling to get pregnant. We never counted on losing our first pregnancy just one month after discovering we were going to have that baby we wanted so desperately. We never counted on the medical issues that we uncovered on both sides that practically would make it a miracle if Jenni and I became pregnant again.
But through it all, what we could count on, was God and each other. Sure, we fought with Him, went through personal struggles, and were confused. Through it all His love was constant, as was the insistent tugging that seemed to be telling me He had other plans for us: adoption. It took time, prayer, and grace to get Jenni and I on the same page, but we are finally here...ready to dive into the scary, exciting, and complicated world of adoption. And we need your help!
The power of prayer is very important to us, so we would first like to humbly ask for your prayers. Nothing can be accomplished without God, and this is indeed a very big undertaking. We want Him to be the focus and get the glory, so we ask for prayers first and foremost.
If you've heard adoption is expensive, then you've heard it right. We are currently in the application phase with the Texas Baptist Home for Children, and have been told that, after approval, the process can be anywhere from a few months to a few years. The final costs can reach close to $20,000.
After much prayer, we felt led to open up this site and reach out to anyone who might consider coming alongside us. We're praying that you would consider helping us fund the amount required to reach our goal. If donating to our cause is too much, again, we would definitely cherish your prayers.
Our first "mini-goal" is $1,000. This would fund the costs associated with our home visits and interviews that we need to pass to reach the waiting phase. After that, it would be the long (or short!) race to the finish line of bringing home a beautiful baby.
Along the way we will provide updates, blog posts, and information as we get it. We would also love to answer any questions you may have. The hope here is to give a first hand account, not only of how crowdfunding something as magical as this can be, but of what the adoption process looks like. We'd love for you to be a part of our journey.
