Joel Bulger Cancer Fund

Joel is my uncle. The youngest uncle on my mother's side in a family of 8.  I am the oldest child of the next generation, so Joel is more like a big brother to me.  Only 9 years separate us.  When Joel was 25, he moved in with my family to help us during my father's hospice care at home.  My dad was only 39, and he was dying from a brain tumor.  I don't know too many 25 year olds who would do something like that.

Joel works hard.  He works when he is hurt.  He works when he is tired.  He is always there for anyone who asks, and he doesn't take any malarky.  Well, he takes a little malarky, and he dishes it right back.

Joel is still working his regular job at The Mark Twain House & Museum, but due to his chemo, and the rigors of that treatment, has had to give up the many side jobs he takes on to make ends meet.  He has insurance, and a very high deductable.  The lost income on top of the high cost of cancer treatment will quickly put Joel behind.

When Joel was diagnosed, I called my former co-workers at The Mark Twain House -- some are still there, some have moved on.  Without exception, every one of them asked, "How can we help?"

As a result, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, we will present "The Adorable Care Act: An Evening of #FakeNews".  All ticket sale proceeds from the event will go to support Joel's medical and living expenses.  For tickets go to: http://fakenews.brownpapertickets.com

If you cannot attend the event, please make a donation.  If you can attend, get your tickets.   And, if you can attend, and want to give a little more, we encourage you to do so.

Joel's prognosis is good.  He is strong.  And we want him to beat this, so we don't want him to worry about money.  Not while he is trying to heal.  Help us support Joel to do just that.
