Hello, My Name is Joe Teixeira. I am setting up this page to keep everyone informed on the progress of our journey through the kidney transplant process and allow those that wish to help support us.
In 2010 I was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney disease called Focal Segmental Glomularsclerosis. Early in 2017 my kidney function dropped to the point where my only 2 options were dialysis for the rest od my life or a kidney transplant. In September 2017 I was placed on the kidney transplant list. After many friends being tested to try and help me out I was very fortunate to find a living donor match. On August 28, 2018 at Vanderbilt Hospital I will be having my transplant surgery. I’m so blessed to have such a good friend willing to share this gift of life. I will never be able to express how thankful my wife and I are for this kindness and generosity for saving my life. Please keep us both in your thoughts and prayers for quick healing, recovery, and that this surgery goes according to plan.
We are raising money to help offset the monetary burden of this procedure on both myself and my donor. Things such as lost wages for both of us and our spouses, travel and lodging expenses as we will be staying and / or commuting back and forth to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville TN., Medical expenses, and medications such as the anti-rejection drugs that will be a necessity for the remainder of my life.
Anything you wish to contribute will be truly a blessing and appreciated beyond words. But truly all we ask for is your thoughts, prayers, and support throughout this experience. We both have a long unknown road to travel. With all of your prayers and support there is nothing we cannot overcome.
