Jimmy Constantin

On Wednesday August 29, 2018 a deadly fire spontaneously erupted on the North side. James Constantin, 61 lived in a 3rd story back apt for the past 19 years. It is above what used to be TJC’s restaurant which our family owned for years.  Jimmy suddenly heard the fire alarm system and went out his back upper porch to see what was going on. When he did, the heat and smoke was already unbearable, he ran back in, grabbed his wallet and keys and ran back out of the 3rd story stairwell. He would not be allowed back in even though it was the  building next door that was on fire. Then as the firefighters continuously fought the fire,  it made its way to his adjacent building next. The firefighter’s blew the forceful water hoses directly into his bedroom window and apt for hours as he watched his life go up in smoke. All he had was the clothes he was wearing. He later said, “I don’t know why I grabbed my keys”
The Red Cross was very helpful, they helped Jim get his medications that were just filled and gave him a stipen for a couple nights in a hotel. Finding a place to start over is another story. Life is pretty upset down right now. Jim has minimal resources and now feels like a burden to his family, he has always survived on his own and does not like to ask anyone for help. He really has no choice right now, any financial donation will be greatly appreciated and  used to help him get back on his feet again.
