Jim Cox is a Master Deputy with the York-Poquoson, VA Sheriff's Office and he needs help! He has been in law enforcement for 12 years since retiring from the US Navy with 20 years of service.
In May of 2014, Jim was hospitalized and had surgery to remove a carcinoid tumor from his small intestines. This left him out of work for several months and his recovery has been challenging.
On July 22, 2015, Jim was readmitted to the hospital for an additional surgery due to complications from his cancerous tumor. It has not gone well for Jim since then. After 28 days of hospitalization due to complications from surgery, Jim was sent home to rehabilitate. Well, that didn't go as hoped and after one day at home he was once again re-admitted with serious complications and an additional surgery.
Jim's wife, Lisa, has been his determined and loving caregiver during all of this. She has been unable to work as a result and has stood fervently by his side. Jim's prognosis is not known at this time and all of this is straining them financially. Once he is released from the hospital, a date that is not yet known, he will be convalescing at home with the burden of home health care expenses.
Jim has committed his life to his community and country. It is our turn to give back to this HERO! They need to focus on getting well, not the financial burden. Thank you for your help!!!!!!
