The Diagnosis
Recently, my mom was rushed to the ER because her blood pressure spiked and her head was spinning. To us it was random. They ran several tests, but came back with zero explanations and recommended she should follow up with her regular doctor. She ultimately learned she has a tumor (meningioma) resting above her nasal cavity that measures about 1.5 by 1.5 inches. Tumors likes these can cause symptoms like seizures, blurry vision, dizzy spells, and headaches.
It's most likely non-cancerous, but the tumor has the ability to move down into my mom’s nasal cavity and negatively affect her vision.
What Happens Next?
The next steps for my mom will be to meet with a neurosurgeon and eye doctor next week. The neurosurgeon will set up a surgery date and discuss radiation therapy and the eye doctor will run tests to see how much the tumor is currently affecting her vision.
What My Mom Means to Me & How to Help
My mom is the most selfless person I know. For as long as I can remember, she has always put the needs of others before her own. It’s evident through her career as a CNA and her parenting skills that God blessed her with the desire to care for and help others. She is CONSTANTLY helping me raise money for fundraisers that don't even begin to compare to how important this one is. This time, I get to be her advocate and help her raise funds!
To each individual reading this right now, please consider donating to help lessen the burden of these unexpected medical expenses.
If you are unable to contribute financially, please join me in prayer as she continues through this journey.
Thank you,
Heather P.
