Hi friends and family,
As some of you may know I have been a mentor for the organization Walk With Sally for a little over a year. Walk With Sally helps pair mentors with children whose parents are batting or have lost their battle to cancer.
In July of 2017, I was matched with seven year old Arleth Garcia whose mother Iselda was battling stage 4 lung cancer. Iselda was a mother of three: Naomi (12), Arleth (8), and Gael (3) who was strong, kind, funny, and dedicated to her family. After being diagnosed, Iselda had to stop working, which put a large weight onto her husband Miguel's shoulders, as he went on to juggle three jobs and take on household responsibilities. Over the course of two years, Iselda's cancer metastasized and spread to her bones and other areas of her body. Sadly, on September 22, 2018 after a hard fought fight, Iselda's battle with cancer came to an end.
The Garcia family has stayed positive and turned to family and faith during this difficult time in their lives. Even in the midst of this difficult time, they have always thought of others and are some of the kindest and most selfless people I have ever met. In this short amount of time, they have become a huge part of my life and I consider them a part of my family.
Unfortunately, Miguel and the Garcia family do not have the means to pay for funeral arrangements and other expenses that come with the loss of their loved one. I am setting up this GoFundMe in order to help raise money for funeral costs and other future expenses that come with raising three children on one's own. I appreciate any donations that go towards helping this wonderful family and as always, am grateful for your constant support.
