Deep Brain Stimulation

My husband, Roland, has had Parkinson’s disease for 19 years. He had to “retire” 3 years ago to go on permanent disability due to this degenerative disease. He truly loved his job as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and still misses it. 
He now needs to get DBS to improve his quality of life. He doesn’t sleep well. He is constantly nauseous from the myriad of medications he takes. Cannot eat a lot of foods due to them interfering with his medications. He cannot get through the day without complete exhaustion by the end of it. There are many, many more facets to this horrible disease that he is struggling with.

Unfortunately we had some pretty bad luck over the past year, and had to move twice, using up our savings in the process. We now live 7 hours from Vancouver, where he needs to go for more appointments. He will need to go for an assessment first then he will need to go back to have the surgery. The brain scan the surgeon needs him to have is $2,000, and that is not covered by medical. Plus there will be travel expenses. We need some help. We never ask fo help so this is quite difficult to do.
