Molo! That is hello in isiXhosa, which is one of the 11 official languages of the great nation of South Africa! I had the honor to travel there on an exchange program while completing my teaching degree at the University of Georgia. After returning home, graduating from college, and teaching in a local public school, God called me back to South Africa and I answered that call with a great Yes God! My Yes God led me to committing to two years of service at the Lebone Centre in Grahamstown, South Africa to volunteer teach at a local non-for-profit organization called the Lebone Centre . I have already completed one amazing and life changing year in South Africa, and I am so excited about continuing my work in South Africa.
At the Lebone Centre I work with 20 amazing children that unfortunately come from extreme poverty, abuse, neglect, and disease. Despite their hardship, these children have truly taught me more about appreciating all of God's blessings no matter their size, and never taking anything for granted. I have the privilege of teaching these children math and reading as well as incorporating music, art, drama, dance, and sport to expose them to areas of learning they rarely get to experience.
Since the center is a non-for-profit organization, they survive purely off of charitable donations. I would love to give a monetary gift to the center as a way of saying thank you for the life changing experience they afforded me. Since the exchange rate is greatly in our favor, I would love to gift the Lebone Centre $1,000 by the end of the year! That is R10,000!!! That money will go a very loooooong way to helping continuing the great work the center does not just for the 20 children but the entire community. I would love your help in making this amazing gift a reality! If you could donate at least $5 (that is R50) then I will be one step closer to reaching my goal. With your gift you will also be helping a young child with little to no opportunities be exposed to a life of endless possibilites. Thank you in advance for your generous donations!
