Legacy PCA Chameleon Fund
Legacy Preparatory Charter Academy is a growing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) school in North Texas. Legacy currently is a K through 10 school, but in two years, will be a K through 12 school. The current freshmen and sophomore students have a reptile sanctuary where presently, there are two bearded dragons, one ball python, one leopard gecko, two African dwarf frogs, and one Texas spiny back lizard. This sanctuary is all funded and cared for by the high school science teacher. Each animal is named after a science term, for example, we have Osmium, Thorium, Xenon, Magnesium, Sigmund, Freud, and Rosalind. After we lost our veiled chameleon (Diploid) in December, the students have been struggling with the loss. Now, after three months, the students are finally ready to adopt another pet. At the local reptarium, there is a beautiful panther chameleon that the students have fallen in love with. However, at a hefty price of $379.99, no one is able to purchase it by themselves. Even if each scholar donated $10, we would still be only about halfway to our goal. The money that is raised in this fund will go to purchasing this panther chameleon, and all extra funds would go into a savings account for food and vet trips. This is important because not only do scholars learn about responsibility, but other subjects can be tied into the animals. Learning about the symbiotic relationships between the bearded dragons and crickets, for example, is a great hands on learning tool for the students. If we are able to raise the funds to buy the panther chameleon, the students will be absolutely elated. LPCA, as a school, will be able to grow further in their education and grow the sanctuary even more. Donations will be accepted indefinitely until further notice.
