Jesus Racing - New Ford XY GTHO

Jesus Racing helps 10’s of thousands of teenagers and 1000’s of incarcerated people every year. The Team is not like any other race team as it uses its success on track to create the opportunity to visit High Schools and Gaols where it encourages people to make “courageous” decisions that they have thought through the consequences of, apposed to just living life in the moment and making choices that might negatively affect them in the future.

The feed back from the schools and the gaols have been amazing and whilst there are hundreds of stories here are just a few……
A principal from Tassie wrote a note to inform us that after Andrew’s visit two students came to him, one was a young man that chose not to get in a car with his mates because he remembered a story Andrew had told about being courageous enough to say no. He knew his mates were going for a joy ride and when they did their car was involved in a roll over and the only reason he was not in the car was he listened to Andrew. The same principal told about a girl that came and said she had broken off a destructive relationship because Andrew's talk had convinced her that she was special and needed to value her life more.

A group of teachers were in tears at a Sydney school when Andrew walked into the common room after his presentation, he wondered what was wrong….. He was told that one of the “troubled” students had never directly spoken to the assistant principal and after the presentation came up and said, Sir, I know I need to start making better choices…. This gave the teachers great hope!

Andrew has even been able to intervene in the life of a student who asked him after his presentation what God would think of someone who took their own life. Andrew asked for permission to help and saw the Principal who informed him the person in question was on suicide watch having lost both parents but refused any help. Andrew was able to facilitate the process and that afternoon the student went in for treatment and is alive and well today.

After Andrew’s presentation at a Gaol about leaving the past behind and choosing a better path into the future one of the inmates asked to make a call, he was a long term inmate and described by the prison officer as one of the “tough guys”. When the officer asked who he was going to call he said his wife… This surprised the officer as the inmate had never asked to call her in the past 10 years… What happened next was that the tough guy broke down in tears as he apologised to her for the pain and suffering he had caused her and promised to make it out and make it up to her.

Whilst the Life Choices program is amazing, it’s the street cred of racing cars at up to 299Km/hr that allows Andrew “Fishtail" Fisher to make such an amazing impact into the lives of thousands of people each year. The team has had great success in the V8 Ute Championship having had many race wins and coming as high as third in the championship.

In 2015 the team made a decision to join the highly acclaimed Touring Car Masters Series which would see team driver Andrew ‘Fishtail' Fisher go head to head with racing legends John Bowe, Jim Richards, Glenn Seton and Steven Johnson.

The team chose the most iconic of Australian cars as its weapon of choice, the Ford Falcon XY GTHO. The emotional attachment this car has with the Australian market (was voted most popular car ever sold in Australia) was a match made in heaven, and exactly what Jesus Racing needed.

To keep the cost to a minimum, Jesus Racing bought an XY GTHO that was already competing in the series, albeit towards the back of the field. Whilst financially this was a good decision and has allowed the team to develop and grow from a low base, it has been like turning up to a street fight with a feather rather than a sword!

The team has had glimpses of greatness in the current XY GTHO on track, qualifying the car as high as 4th on the grid but this is as much as they can get out of the old girl and it is time to build a new XY GTHO from the ground up. This will result in the team being able to shed around 100KG’s out of the currently overweight car and engineer the car so as to gain better performance, allowing the team to be racing at the front and thus gaining the extra exposure that this creates.

The first stage in this process is to build a new shell and then get the roll cage designed, engineered and installed, following this is the installation of the required running gear which the team will most likely bring across from the current car in order to save costs.
As such, Jesus Racing is seeking your support to help us to build the team’s new XY GTHO, and allow us to be fighting up the front of the Touring Car Masters field and to gain the extra exposure needed to continue making an impact with their Life Choices program.

The cost to build the shell is $40,000 and you can help make this happen through contributing directly to this campaign while also sharing with your friends and family!

Each person or entity that helps out will have their name displayed on the front bonnet of the car at the first round that it competes at (e.g. With thanks to John Doe, Jane Smith etc.)

Are you willing to get out of the Grandstand and onto the grid?
YOU can make a difference!
Your choice to support Jesus Racing will directly influence the lives of tens of thousands of young people
Will you help prevent them from making poor life decisions with tragic consequences!

Will you remain a spectator or are you willing to be a part of the team?
