Jessica's World Frisbee Adventure

Donation protected

My name is Jess Emery and I have recently being selected for Southern Terra the U20 Women's Australian Ultimate (Frisbee) Team where I will now go on to represent Australia at Wroclaw, Poland in July later this year.

I joined Ultimate after learning to play in a few classes at Mount Lawley Senior High School. Eventually I decided I wanted to play for a club and learn some of the more complex skills. That’s where I joined the Yokine Social League at Primal Ultimate. I have just finished competing in my second season there and I am now competing in the Perth Ultimate League on Wednesday nights. I enjoy Frisbee because it is a social event anyone can participate in. I've also enjoyed the quirkiness of the sport especially when people ask you what sport you play, it’s definitely a conversation starter that interests people.

Attending the World Junior Ultimate Championships is important to me because it would be an extremely rewarding experience in which I will be able to develop and enhance my skills as an Australian athlete. To achieve this goal, I am required to travel interstate on multiple occasions and to Poland, yet as I live in Western Australia, one of the most isolated city's in the world, the costs of travelling have become quite expensive. Your donations will not only assist in reducing the costs of travel but will allow me to further develop my skills and knowledge of the game, allowing me to become a better player and leader for my teammates.

Overall the cost of my trip has come to $6000, and much of this I am looking to fundraise.

This includes:
Tournament Fees - $150
Accomodation - $500
Tournament Food - $200
Support Staff - $1000
Training Camps -  3 x $300
Flights and Pretournament Accomodation - $3100
Uniform - $120

Simply just hit the big 'donate now' button and your donation can help me travel to Poland!

Representing Australia in Poland by wearing the "green and gold" would be an honour and a fantastic experience in which I will learn more about the spread of Frisbee across various cultures around the world whilst enhancing my knowledge and skills of the game.

Overall, the World Junior Ultimate Championships, provides me with the opportunity to develop myself as a person, a teammate and an Australian. Currently, the final training camp is being held in Perth on July the 22nd just before we leave on the 24th. I am seeking financial assistance for the cost of travel to events like these and Poland, where I can further develop my skills.

And keep an eye out because I've been popping up all around the place in local newspapers and other public venues.
