Most people reading this already know Jessica and her story.  You know that she has fought through her illness and aggressive treatment plan with a smile on her face and joy in her heart.   Can't say enough how proud we are of her for her optimistic perseverance over the past couple of years.

Unfortunately, Jess has been unable to work for several months now and the bills are starting to back up. Additionally,  the New Year is upon us and her medical deductible will be resetting on 1/1.

If you know our family... we are not good at asking for help.  Jessica could use some though to get past this temporary hurdle.  We appreciate any assistance and send thanks and love to our amazing group of friends and family.

Jessica's story:
In the summer of 2017 we went on a family vacation to FL.  Upon our return,  Jessica had a cough that just wouldn't go away. Eventually,  this progressed into a skin rash and painful joints and she was originally diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that she actually has a rare autoimmune disease call GPA (Granulomatosis with Polyangitis).  She began treatment for GPA in 2017 but the battle had just begun.

In January of 2018 she was hospitalized at Banner and quickly sent to Mayo for further treatment. It was during this stay that it was discovered that Valley Fever was also present and was also probably the original trigger.  It had gone undiagnosed for more than a year at this point however and had developed into a fungal meningitis infection.

Despite several medication changes,  the team at Mayo was unable to get ahead of the infection.  The meningitis also led to the development of hydrocephalus and in June of 2019 Jessica had a shunt installed in her head to assist with draining spinal fluid from her brain.

This was followed by a surgery to insert pins into her neck to allow for decompression.  Again,  this still wasn't enough. It was decided a few months back that she would need daily infusions of her latest drug cocktail and then that she would be admitted to Mayo for an extended stay.  This extended stay and inability to work has put here where we are today... asking for some help.
