Hi! Meet CJ and Jess from Puerto Rico. They’ve been married for almost 12 years and have finally begun their journey to adoption.
CJ and Jess both have struggled with infertility and have no children. Even if they could have their own kids, they’ve always had in their hearts the desire to adopt. Having a family is important to them and they understand that love is what makes a family.
Every time they planned to start the adoption process, something happened that stopped them. Sometimes economic issues, like CJ losing his job. Other times health issues, like Jess’ (successful) thyroidectomy due to cancer. Life would happen and they would put the adoption plans on hold.
Last year, Puerto Rico was hit by two major hurricanes in a period of two weeks. I’m sure you know how hard the conditions on the Island have been after hurricane Maria. CJ lost his job and they also had to move. But every situation has a bright side. CJ now has a better job, they moved to a better place and are stable enough to start a family!
The hurricane also made them realize that every situation, as hard as can be, can make us stronger… And that they couldn’t keep waiting to do the things that would make them happy.
They want to share their love. They want to be parents. There’s nothing else in the world that would make them happier. I’m sure they’d be great parents!
They have started the adoption process through the state organizations, this can be a long and difficult process. They will also like to acquire the help of an adoption agency. Unfortunately, we all know how expensive adoption can be. They won’t be able to afford all the costs on their own. Still, they decided that they must try, that this can’t keep discouraging them from beginning this journey. I humbly ask for your help, in any way you can, even if it is sharing this campaign. It takes a village… so hopefully you can be part of their village.
