I set up this Go Fund Me page for my husband as a last resort. I have never been one to ask for charity as I always found a way to take care of things somehow but this time I have to let go of my pride and ask for help.
To understand why a brain scan is needed, here is the background to what Jerry has been going through over the last year in a nutshell. Beginning around the end of last summer, Jerry started to not feel well. Without giving away all the gory details, the symptoms started out small but progressed into potentially life threatening ones. Over the course of the year, he has seen multiple doctors to rule out various conditions but he continued to get violently ill on a daily basis. It was at this point, he was referred to an Environmental Doctor who has determined through lab and visual tests that the reason Jerry isn’t feeling well is because of an exposure to specific metals at work. As a result, Jerry has been put on medical leave since mid October with no return back to work date. He is currently getting disability but worker’s comp has denied Jerry’s claim that his condition is related to his work environment. We are starting the process of filing an appeal but the doctor has indicated that he will need more testing and one particular test is a brain scan to determine the extent of the neurological damage. Once we have the scan and next round of tests completed, the results along with all his records over the last year will be sent to worker’s comp. We are hoping beyond hope that they will reconsider because the treatment will occur over the next several months and is very costly totaling anywhere from $35,000 - $70,000.
Our credit cards are maxed out so we are out of financial options to cover the cost of the scan and Jerry can’t move forward with any kind of treatment until we know what worker’s comp is going to do. We really need a small miracle so if you can donate even $1, we’d appreciate it more than you know.
