I leave Madison in August following my dream of studying viola with Samuel Rhodes (of the Juilliard Quartet) at the Juilliard School in New York City for my Masters of Music degree. I deeply admire Mr. Rhodes’s approach to teaching and his reverence for music, and I am excited to grow from and build upon everything I’ve learned from UW-Madison.
I have applied for work study and educational outreach programs through Juilliard to help me pay for my education. This will only cover some of the costs of tuition ($39,000/year) and living expenses ($14,000/year). I have $25,000 in outstanding loans after graduating with distinction from UW, and I will need to take out additional loans for Juilliard.
My goal is to raise half of my tuition, or $19,000 by August 10, when first semester tuition is due. In addition to this GoFundMe, I am organizing a concert in Madison, WI to help me raise scholarship. This fundraiser concert will be on Saturday, June 13 at 7:00pm at the First Unitarian Society of Madison (900 University Bay Drive) in the Atrium auditorium. I will be playing with Seungwha Baek and Andrew Briggs, and a reception will follow the concert. Tickets for this event are $20 ($10 students), and can be purchased with cash or check at Orange Tree Imports in Madison (1721 Monroe St.) or at the door.
I am grateful for the support I have received from my family, teachers, peers, FUS, and my musical community. Thank you all very much for continuing to support me as I begin the next chapter in my musical education (donations exceeding ticket price will also be gratefully appreciated at the June 13 concert).
