Jenny the Corgi Needs Hemodialysis

Donation protected
In the early hours of the morning on January 2nd, Jenny started vomiting. 12 hours later, she was admitted to the hospital for suspected Leptospirosis and was started on antibiotics, fluids, and other supportive care.

Leptospira is a bacteria that thrives in warm, wet environments. We live on Long Island, NY, which has been experiencing seasonably warm an extremely wet weather. Lepto affects multiple body systems, but possibly the most critical is the kidneys. Unfortunately, the kidneys are Jenny's biggest problem at the moment.

Jenny has gone from our local vet to a 24-hour specialist to the dialysis facility, each about 45 minutes apart from one another, in less than 48 hours. She is expected to stay at the dialysis facility for around two weeks as dialysis is a necessarily slow process. Additionally, her platelet level is critically low, which leaves her susceptible to spontaneous bleeding.

The first two days alone have been quoted at around $12,000 and the entire visit is slated to cost up to $30,000. This dog is the sweetest, best creature around and deserves all that we can give her. Thank you so much for thinking of our girl. We look forward to a long and happy life for her after she beats this horrible condition. <3
