On Sunday, August 20th, Jennifer and Israel were driving home to San Antonio from Lubbock after dropping Israel's son Rafi off to school at Tech.  About halfway home, they lost control of the vehicle, rolled, and hit a concrete barrier.  The truck caught fire and was a total loss.  This is the second total loss of a vehicle this year.
Israel walked away with minor injuries including broken toes and many bruises.  Jennifer, still recovering from the car accident in December, sustained more serious injuries.  She has multiple broken bones, including the humerus, ribs, spine, and heels, as well as internal injuries.
As of today, August 22nd, Jennifer is still in a San Angelo hospital without a known date to safely return to San Antonio.  She had a surgery today on the humerus and will most likely need additional medical treatments.
Israel has been staying with Jennifer in San Angelo.  Mom and Dad have been driving back and forth from Floresville (Mom has dialysis three times a week and needs to come back for those).  Adri and Chan are doing their best to maintain normalcy and keep up with their obligations with school.
Expenses are mounting and are expected to continue.  Any help or assistance is appreciated.  Funds will be used for medical bills and the costs of travel.  When Jennifer is released to come to San Antonio (either to a hospital or home), they will need help with meals and general day to day life.
We pray for healing, both physically and emotionally.  And above all, we hope that you continue to pray for the family.  We know that God will provide and heal and we trust in Him always.

Jennifer is at home receiving care. Right now it looks as if she has escaped the need to surgically correct her heels. They will wait to see if they will heal without the surgery. However, Jenn's arm seems to be broken again. She is still quite immobile and, therefore, needs a lot of help when she needs to be moved. It may have re-broken during all the moves.

Please continue to pray for her.
Thank you for all your warm thoughts.

Jennifer is getting better :)! She has her phone back and is getting a little better each day in different ways. She is in San Antonio at the PAM hospital on 1604. Today, Jenn had physical therapy and sat up for awhile. Yay for small strides! No pictures as she is pretty puffy from some allergy stuff and still beat up. Please keep the well wishes coming.

On a side note, Adri got some proofs for her senior pictures & they are GORGEOUS! I *may* be a bit biased.

I got to visit with Jenn Sunday! She's in good spirits, but still in pain. They told her they could let her go (to San Antonio) when she's off IV meds / pain. Mom and Dad went back today and reported that she is disconnected from everything and weened off IV pain meds! Yay! So the doctor can decide tomorrow whether or not she can be released. Israel went back to work Monday and is working on coordinating her transfer to a San Antonio rehabilitation center, where it looks like she'll be for about a month. So keep the prayers coming!

It's a little frightening, but Jenn had me take a couple of pictures. These are of her legs; the rest of her body has similar abrasions. This is one week after the accident.

Please continue to pray. Love you all ❤️

Mom, Dad, and Mel went up to visit Thursday. Jennifer has some additional internal injuries that need to be addressed before they can allow her to be transported to SA (either to a hospital or a rehab center). Israel's family went up Friday when Mom & Dad came home. Bennie and I were hoping to go this weekend, but we are sheltered in place due to Hurricane / Tropical Storm Harvey.
Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes. It is going to be a long recovery for Jenn. Her spirits are up and she remains positive and faithful to God's grace and mercy.
For those of you that know my sister through crafting (or otherwise), please consider sending her a card. I remember sitting with Jenn in her craft room building cards for various people around the world in times of need and in times of celebration. Paper crafting is one of her joys and I know she would love to be on the receiving end right now. If you feel so inclined to send a card, please mail it to Jennifer Aviles c/o Amanda Herrera at 1031 Jasmine Dr Floresville, TX 78114.

Thank you again & God bless.
