Jen's Breast Cancer Fund
Shortly before her trip to Puerto Rico, Jen was trying on swim suits and found a lump in her breast. Fast forward a few weeks, Jen was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. She will have 16 cycles of chemotherapy, followed by surgery, followed by potentially more chemotherapy +/- radiation. Jen has devoted her life to helping others (she's a wonderful nurse!) and this is our time to give her a little help back! Her bills will rack up quickly as she is paying out of pocket for fertility treatment ($8,000!!!) and her wig ($1,600!!!) plus the cost of her medical treatments. She will have lost wages from work, as she requires time to recover after treatment and surgery. Jen is not someone to ask for help, but could really use our financial help so she can focus on her health, not worrying about her medical bills, rent, car payments, student loans, etc! Every little bit will take a little stress off of her shoulders. If you can't help financially, that's okay too! She would love a well wish or some encouragement from you!+ Read More
Jen starts chemo today!!! Please keep her in your thoughts for a smooth first infusion. Consider wearing pink today in support of her! If you do, could you donate $5 towards her fundraiser, post a pic on Facebook or send her a text of encouragement (or do all 3)?!?
Written by Stephanie Tesch “Jennifer Rukamp had some setbacks and complications from her fertility surgery (pre-chemo) that have now placed her on FMLA (unpaid) way earlier than expected. She’s kept her outlook extremely positive and her spirits high, but visiting her in the hospital tonight she mentioned worries of being off work multiple times. Cancer sucks. She works her butt off to help everyone else and now she’s stressed to make ends meet. If you’ve already donated, thank you so much for your support ❤️. If you haven’t and happen to have even $5 laying around you could spare, this amazing nurse could use a helping hand ❤️. If you’re unable to monetarily share support, well wishes, good vibes, prayers, kind words, visits, phone calls, etc are always, always appreciated ❤️ it takes a village, but she certainly has an amazing one.”
