Photography Saved My Life

Donation protected
A year ago, I did 6 months in prison for marijuana charges. In the third month, I had to do 28 days in the hole (solitary confinement). I was in a room that was about 10 x 7 feet for 24 hours a day. The only time I was let out was to shower..3 times a week. It was a rough time but I promised myself that once I got out I’d work and make a living the right way, legally. But do something I love doing.

I got out and that’s exactly what I did. I sold my car and bought everything I needed to take my photography to the next level. At first, it was amazing. I was making a living by making people happy. They got to see themselves in a different way. It’s a good feeling being the cause of someone’s happiness.

During previous months, I was really lost. I was getting booked back-to-back to photograph big time artist performances in the nightlife scene. Later, I had an experience that changed my life. That experience led me to get saved that same night. Afterwards, I stopped doing club gigs. Since then I’ve visited California with a few friends & it made me realize something when I got back home. I’ve been truly blessed to capture moments. Moments with strong meanings & raw emotion. This 3 day trip made me realize that I need to put my all into my photography.

So i’ve decided to take this blessing full force & travel the U.S. for at least 3 months through couch surfing (www.couchsurfing.com).  Along the way I’ll be making connections for my upcoming magazine, find photography work &  practice/better my social skills. I'll be keeping you guys updated daily-weekly with my experiences through my blog (http://www.ivorycolors.net/blog)

I feel when you mix your morals with your passion, thats when you find your true path in life. I did that & it led me to this decision. I’m positive that God will provide along the way but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask for help as well.

Starting July 1st, my couch surfing experience will begin & i’m excited to document & share the experiences with you all. Thank you guys for taking your time to read this & I hope it inspires you to follow your heart. Always remember its never too late to make your dream come true. God bless.
