Jeffs Prosthetic Leg & Medical Expenses

Donation protected

On Friday June 7th 2019 at approximately 8:20PM, my brother Jeffrey Abed almost lost his life. His life at that moment would never be the same.  It was a scene out of a nightmare. He was traveling back home from downtown Los Angeles (work) on the 101 freeway when the accident occurred which resulted in his leg having to be amputated after it was severed on the scene. He was rushed into surgery immediately in which they attempted to reattach his severed leg. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the tear and contamination, the doctors were unsuccessful in reattaching his leg and had to amputate just above the knee. A very helpful citizen assisted Jeff immediately by tying his belt around Jeffs leg to stop the bleeding. The paramedics said that if this man did not do this, he would have bled to death. This man left the scene right after helping Jeff, he did not leave his name. Given the sequence of events it's a miracle that he is alive and breathing. God is great and with the technology and medical advances available today, Jeff will be able to walk again with help from his community and loved ones.

A little background on Jeffrey; he is extremely family oriented and has extensive ties to the community. If any of you know him, you would know he is the most charismatic and loving person. He lights up every room he walks into and he continues to light up our world even after this accident. The strength and perseverance I see in him, even now in this confusing time, is unexplainable. My only wish is for him to be able to live a life which will not be completely altered, because of this unfortunate, unfathomable accident. An accident which was completely out of his hands.

My family and I are raising money to help with his medical expenses, psychological treatment, physical therapy, occupational therapy and a prosthetic leg  which Jeff will have in the future. But more than anything, we hope to raise enough money to be able to provide Jeff the life he once had given his circumstances.  We are so fortunate to have Jeff with us here today. We are so lucky to be able to watch him grow, to be able to live out each mile stone life has to offer, with him. Now all we can hope for is to be able to minimize any obstacles Jeff will face, as best we can. We are confident that with a little help from anyone who can offer it, we will be able to afford a prosthetic limb that will do just that. Jeff has decided that any additional proceeds we do not use will be donated to Limbs for Life foundation, amputee coalition, FLP (Forgotten Lives Project).

Thank you so much! God bless.
