Jay Bird's Top Surgery Fundraiser

This is a fundraiser to help support our good friend Jay for their upcoming top surgery! While it is incredibly exciting that Jay has finally booked a consultation appointment and surgery date, this has not been without its challenges.
Sadly but not surprisingly, the Ontario provincial government continues to demonstrate its disregard for the lives of trans people by actively targeting such things as comprehensive sex education and trans-specific health care. These attacks have made it exceptionally difficult to receive necessary health care services including sex reassignment surgeries by cutting off the number of OHIP covered surgeries a year.
In order to get their top surgery, Jay has had to turn to private insurance and was only able to book their consultation and surgery through a Halifax clinic. The cost of having to go out-of-province to receive health care is a huge expense with travel and accommodations in addition to the surgery itself.
Jay could really use some support for this big upcoming expense especially given that it is entirely unjust that trans folks should be burdened with the financial costs of necessary health care services simply because they are trans.
Jay is an amazing individual who works tirelessly to help support others. They are always sharing their skills and talents for the purposes of building more just and equitable communities. Let's show them how much we love and appreciate them by raising money for their surgery!!!
