Jason's Heart

Jason, a 51-year-old son, husband, father of two, and hard-core Boston fan has been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy since he was 46. He had surgery for a pacemaker and defibrillator five years ago to make sure his heart would keep beating rhythmically and had a backup device in case it stopped. This year, five years later, he had his defibrillator replaced and the doctors found that his condition was deteriorating. They found problems with the function of one of his valves and an ejection fraction of only 10%, diagnosing him with heart failure. He was in and out of the hospital all summer 2018 with many physical issues and is now fully resided at Emory University hospital since early November. He is currently hopefully waiting for a heart transplant and was officially on the transplant list as of November 20th, 2018.

            Jason must stay in the hospital until he gets an opportunity for a heart transplant so bills and money have been extremely tight for our family this year. He has not been able to work since last year, when his doctor told him that he could not work full time anymore due to his health. His wife Nancy, an incredibly loving mother and teacher of 29 years, has been trying her hardest to make ends meet. They have a 17-year-old son who is a senior in high school with dreams of attending Georgia Southern University in the fall and I am their almost 21-year-old daughter who is graduating from Georgia College’s nursing school next December.

Jason dreams of being able to get a new heart and be the best husband, father, and family man again. His spirits and positivity have been so high even with staying in the hospital over the holidays. We pray that soon he will be able to be healthy again.
