Many of you know and love my sister Amanda, her family, and what they have been battling for the past 7 years.  It is with a humble and grateful heart that we share their story...

Jason and Amanda met when they were 12 years old at church.  Over the years they would become friends and eventually it became more, realizing they were the love of each others lives.  They married in 2004, just a few short weeks before Jason, who had enlisted in the United States Marine Corps a couple years earlier, left on his second combat deployment.  It may have seemed rushed but they decided if they were going to live life with so much uncertainty that the military can bring, they were going to live their life with nothing unsaid.

They would go on to spend 10 more years moving around wherever the Marine Corps sent them and welcoming their three amazing boys into this world.  It was a life of adventure, moving from one coast to the next and facing deployments.  In the midst of the adventure, they wrote a beautiful love story.  They raised their family, full of faith, love and laughter.  They were each other’s best friends, biggest cheerleaders and greatest confidants.  Jason had an impeccable career as a Marine for over 10 years, completing a total of 4 combat tours while serving his country.

In 2011, Jason had a seizure at work and life would forever change as they knew it.  They found that the cause of Jason’s seizure was a brain tumor.  Even with surgery and treatment they were told he probably only had 2-3 years left.  Jason was medically retired from the Marines and they came back to their hometown of Casper, Wyoming.  Jason was doing incredibly well and defying the odds for a time.  They continued to live their life and enjoy their family for six more years, before the MRI showed that the tumor had returned in October of 2017.

Jason fought so hard over the last year.  They left no stone unturned as they did everything to meet this aggressive cancer, with just as aggressive of a fight, as any Marine would do in battle. Their faith, which has always been a center to their lives, only grew stronger.  Jason faced this battle with a smile on his face and a calm assurance that God’s plan, no matter how it ends, is always good.

The story did not end the way they had hoped, and it ended far too soon.  Jason was called home to God on October 28, 2018.  Amanda and their sweet, young boys ages 11, 9 and 6 are left with such a void and completely broken hearts, but are so blessed to have been able to call him husband and daddy.  In his short 37 years,  he left a legacy of unwavering faith, love, humility and honor that will carry them through a lifetime that will be a little less bright without him in it.

Their future is uncertain in so many ways, and sadly their financial situation has also been changed.  This is our small way of trying to lighten the burdens and help out a fallen Marine who has impacted so many both in and out of his military career, and a woman who has inspired numerous men and women with her unwavering strength, faith, and courage.
