Jason Return Home

Jason Abregana

Jason Abregana was born and raised in Ewa Beach, Hawaii.  In 1999 he moved to Washington State with his family.  He was a police officer in Warden, WA and a correction officer at the Ridge Correctional Facility in Cornell, WA.

It was in 2005 when Jason began to have a hard to breathing.  He was rushed to the emergency room several times until finally he was sent to see a specialist in Seattle.  They said it looks like he has a Bird Flu.  He was not on a farm who near any type of birds.  He was send back home and later he was sent again to Seattle to run more tests.  They said he had cancer in the lung.

They started Chemo therapy in 2006.  But no improvement.  He still was having lots of complications breathing.  He was too weak to work.  He used up all of his sick leave and vacation.  He later resigned from the police force and several months later from his correctional officer job.  He could afford his insurance.  He applied for disability and didn’t qualify.  Family all donated to help pay for his medical bills and chemo therapy.  Eventually it was too much.

By 2014 he applied for social security benefits disability.  He still was denied twice.  He then hired an attorney.  Things started to look a little better.  But now it’s too late.  Jason died on February 16, 2017.  Now the Social Security has all the proof they need.  The last six years were very hard for Jason.  Breathing problems and always going to the emergency room for treatment which most of his visit to the ER would land him in the Hospital.

Jason has 4 children and 4 grandchildren.  We are seeking help to help pay for his past medical bills and to bring Jason back home to Hawaii to rest.  The cost to ship his body back to Hawaii and to bring his children and grandchildren back to Hawaii is very expensive.  We have never thought we would be in this situation.  Jason was the type to never ask for any help but he was always helping those in need.  He was a very compassionate person, always helping others in need.  He would others in need before himself.

This is set up to help the family in their time of need to help pay for past medical expense and to lay him to rest back in Hawaii and to hold his funeral service, and to bring his children back to Hawaii. We are hoping to get as many donations by March 15, 2017 for his funeral services is on March 18, 2017.  Anything donations received after that will help to pay his medical expenses. Any donation is greatly appreciated!
