Fourth Estate Leadership Summit!

"The people who are crazy enough to think that they can
change the world are the ones who do."

Let me just lay it all out for you. I've been invited to attend a leadership summit this summer with Invisible Children in Los Angeles, California, called the Fourth Estate. What is the Fourth estate, exactly? I could geek out about it for a year, but here's a good, concise explanation:

"A four-day experience crafted to empower, educate, and equip activists and educators with powerful resources for how they can personally be part of seeing international justice become a reality in this generation.

Invisible Children is founded on the principle that where you live shouldn't determine whether you live. The Fourth Estate Leadership Summit is bringing together organizations and leaders who believe that basic human rights should be a priority for us all, and that the best and brightest minds should be activated in that endeavor."

If you know me at all, you know how much my life has been shaped by my involvement in Invisible Children for over 7 years. It has pushed me to continue fighting for justice all, and has taught me that our lives are all connected. What excites me most about this conference is that it will be focused on so much more than the LRA crisis. I can tailor the break-out sessions I go to, and the people I meet with to best fit with my future endeavors. Representatives from the United Nations Foundation,Teach For America, charity: water, 31 Bits, Sevenly, and SO many more will be there. Speakers include Luis Moreno Ocampo, Adam Braun, Dan Pallotta, and that's just the start.
As one who would love to start my own non-profit eventually, geared toward helping refugees and trafficked individuals find jobs, find a community, find a new life. I think the Fourth Estate will be an absolutely incredible way to learn about becoming a sustainable non-profit. I want to learn to create programs that are actually beneficial and help women find their footing, and not programs that will be a permanent crutch to rely on. I want to learn how to be an effective leader and not just a girl with a passion who never does anything about it.

Will you join alongside me? This is an investment, not only into my future, but also into the lives of the women and men I hope to one day serve in my ministry.

-- Donations will go towards airfare and the cost of the conference.
Donate anything you can. If you want to make your donation conditional on something you want me to do for you (cleaning your house or dog watching or getting some Mary Kay from me) let me hear it, I'm open to anything!
