Grammy Needs a Kidney! (Jami Reitz)

Donation protected
Jami Reitz is a 62-year-old woman who is very ill.  She was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in 2009.  She began dialysis in October, 2014. However, a kidney transplant is her best chance for long-term survival. The cost of a transplant can be overwhelming.

Jami grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Cleveland Central Catholic High School. She got married and was a stay at home Mom for 13 years with her three children.  She went on to work for 25 years as the litigation docket person at a large law firm in downtown Cleveland. She left work when she went on dialysis.  She loves spending time with her four grandbabies and working on paper crafting.  Together, Jami and her family are committed to seeing her through transplant.  Her daughters have agreed to be tested as possible donors.

Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with Medicare, Jami is facing very high expenses including whatever costs Medicare does not cover for the transplant itself.  In addition, she is facing post-transplant medications of up to $2,000 per month, co-pays, lab fees and more.
