Uncle JW(aka) came home with a metal plate in his head. Because of his injuries he was often depressed. He fought that Battle an won.
He was raised in the NW DC quadrant. During his mid-life he resided in East Capital St. Dwellings in the NE DC quardrant, in his final days  the last 30 yrs he was in  Public Housing in SE. He  battled diferrent illnesses for that last 30yrs. Blood disease,  high blood pressure
sure, high cholesteral,  prostate cancer, glucoma, and small heart valves and he still fought this fight, in search for comfort and happiness. He had a humble personality and lived within his means.
Sergeant Mccilwain spent his final days in Veterans Hospice.
Veterans benefits are limited and only stretch so far. While his family is of limited means, they would still like in honor Sergeant Mccilwain's name, raising funds for the Veteran's Affairs Hospice. The VA's goal is to provide inpatient palliative and hospice care for our veterans.

Donations will go towards making Veteran's hospice patients as comfortable as possible in their final days (i.e: robes, slippers, pajamas).

The Family of Sergeant Mccilwain is requesting that you not only donate your money, but your time as well by volunteering at your local veterans hospital.

In addition, the Family is holding a fundraiser on Sunday, October 15th from 2:00 -- 8:00 PM. Please click on the link for details for the Veterans Fundraiser Harvest Exchange. https://www.eventnation.co/event/veteransdayvibe?ref=HB.
