Regardless of whether you donate, on behalf of the family, I just want to thank you for taking the time to click and read this. The intention of this is not to guilt you into giving anything, I just want to tell you the truth and to tell you a story. My dad is always a hard-worker, a loving husband, father, grandfather and a solid foundation. Dad is always described as a stern man with a hard exterior, however in my life I have never had a more adamant belief in the opposite. Dad has always been kind, soft, loving, goofy, full of life and happiness. As a son, my dad taught me the importance of becoming a man and stepping into leadership roles whenever the opportunity presented itself. As a man, dad always taught me that vulnerability does not equate weakness, and that as a man it is up to me know when a situation calls for a quiet voice rather than a roaring rebuttal. Admittedly, this is still a lesson I have trouble practicing (haha.) When I was fourteen, when dad wanted me and him to be honest with each other we would write notes. I told my dad that there is nothing more in life I wanted than to be a shining example of his life and teachings, and that if I grew up to only be half the man he is, then that would probably be more than enough. My dad’s response was that he wanted me to grow to be an even greater man than he, and that every day I make him prouder and prouder…I always try and do right by my dad. Dad always took care of everything, and even though he would stay up late stressing about bills, he refused to let it echo into the rest of the house. Dad always did his best. Dad is still doing his best. As we all know, there is no such thing as a cheap visit to the doctor. A few weeks ago, my dad was diagnosed with cancer in his ampulla or near his pancreatic duct. The surgery to remove it went well, however at 5 AM, a vessel burst, and dad’s heart stopped three times in the operating room during emergency surgery. He’s hanging on, but we are on a very slow, very exhausting journey towards recovery and healing. In total our dad has gone through 3 major surgeries. He is going up and down through this whole process. This has and is the hardest thing we have ever have to go through with him. We see Gods hand over our dad through out this whole process and some miracles that we can't wait to share once he is fully recovered. We are not a family that comes from much, if anything we are family that barely makes ends meet. Anything…anything whatsoever will mean the world to us even lifting our father up in your prayers would be amazing. On behalf of the family, once again, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your generosity. Even if you cannot give today, please share this with friends and family.
