James' Cancer Fund

Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Sierra and I am a good friend of Taylor and James. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to Taylor and James for costs associated with his medical treatment, travel needs and living expenses for their growing family. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Here is the short version...

James has cancer and needs our help! At 28 years old, James is battling cancer for the fourth time. His hope is to participate in any Clinical Trials he is eligible for but that will likely require him to travel around the US to wherever those trials are being held. As you might imagine, this is an expense they aren't prepared for but will need to ensure the best available treatment for James. In happier news and against all odds, James and his girlfriend Taylor are expecting a daughter. Currently unable to work and with the stress of James' medical condition, they need our help to eliminate the extra worry of not being able to support their family.

And here is the long version...

In 2007, at 19 years old, James began his battle with testicular cancer. After being treated with chemotherapy, he became eligible for surgery to remove his testicle. He was told that he would likely not be able to have children. Over the next few years James underwent blood tests and cat scans every 3-6 months to monitor his cancer markers.

In 2010/2011, James’ markers went up and he had swollen lymph nodes in his back and a tumor in his lung. He was put on intense chemo treatment and the tumors from his back and lungs were surgically removed. James was given a Stem Cell Transplant to try to kill off any remaining cancers in his body. He spent the next 6 years seemingly cancer free.

In early 2016, his markers went up again and a cat scan revealed he had swollen lymph nodes in his neck. Another surgery, 9 more removed lymph nodes and 1 year later, James is continuing his battle. In late 2016, miraculously, he and his girlfriend Taylor learned they were expecting a baby and a few short months later they found out the baby is a GIRL! James lost his grandmother and his father in the same year from cancer and we so badly want to stop this nightmare.

On Feb 22, 2017, he was told he had three tumors in his lungs and a small cluster of swollen lymph nodes in his chest near his heart. Due to the location and size of his tumors no surgeon is willing to remove them. The following week James met with his primary cancer doctor, Dr. John Strothers, where he was told this was the most advanced his cancer has been. He was informed that chemo treatments were most likely not going to help him because despite already going through such intense treatments, the cancer continues to return. This is typically referred to as "mutated cancer" where it has essentially become immune to chemo and radiation treatments.

James's only real options are, “Clinical Trial Treatments.”  He is going to be given very low dose chemo treatments with the intentions of keeping his cancer from spreading to his liver and brain until he is approved for a clinical trial. The type of cancer James currently has is undetermined at this point. He is scheduled for a biopsy on the largest tumor in his lung. After finding out what specific cancer he has, his doctor will be able to determine what trials James will be eligible for. Once they know exactly what cancer they are fighting, his trials will be set. It will also determine the possibility of James being freed of this. It is possible that James’ life will only be prolonged and that they won’t be able to kill his cancer. We are determined to give him the best chance. The up side is that James is not limited to only one clinical trial. If one does not work, he can sign up for another and keep going from there while getting low dose chemo treatments in between to help control the spread of cancer throughout his body. However, the down side is that these trials are all over America and some even outside of the U.S.

Being out of work and expecting a miracle daughter in just four short months, finances are their biggest limitation to James getting the help he so desperately needs. They are both so loved and his fight isn't over. We are so grateful for your love and support while he pushes through this. Anything helps and is so appreciated, there is no amount too small. Your prayers are also much appreciated! Thank you so much and God bless!
